Grote Berg is a neighborhood located west of Willemstad on Curaçao, roughly in the middle of the island. The area sits along the Weg naar Westpunt. Curaçao’s airport (Curaçao International Airport / Hato Airport) is close by, which means you may see airplanes passing overhead a few times a day as they come in to land. History of Grote Berg
The neighborhood of Grote Berg is named after Landhuis Grote Berg. Many people mistakenly think the name came from the fact that the area is on a hill. The name “Grote Berg” actually originated because the landhuis was a tall building with two floors. The landhuis still exists and is in good condition.
